Weeks Five and Six: Mid-Term Critiques

As scheduled on the syllabus, our mid-term crits will be held on 4/30 and 5/5. People who were in class on 4/28 signed up for a slot. Oddly enough (!), the 5/5 slots filled up first so people who have not yet signed up will be critiqued tomorrow, Thursday 4/30. Thursday people: have all your work, sketches, visual references & etc. (everything you have that will help us understand your project) up and be ready to talk first thing.

Weeks 4, 5 and 6: Mid-term Critiques, Artist Research and Field Trips

Work, work, work! Now, not later, is the time for a big push. Get it out of your head and out/down.

Midterm critiques on Thursday 4/30 and Tuesday 5/5
. Have your work up and ready to go when class begins on each day.

For Thuresday 4/23, put up on your blog at least 3 artists WHO ARE NEW TO YOU with a brief post about how they relate to your work.

On 5/7 we will go to the Art Museum and some galleries and on 5/12 or 14 to the Cooley Gallery to see China Urban.

Week 2: Proposals Due April 7

Bring your work proposals (one page word-processed and/or posted on your blog) to class on Tuesday. You should have your space set up and spend the class period on Tuesday working. I will meet with you individually about your proposed work plans.

On Thursday, April 9, be ready to present brief info about 3 new artists you have found that relate to the work you will be doing in class. Post these on your individual blogs.

There is an online version of the week's reading, "The World in Three Aisles," at www.panix.com/~footage/harpers.pdf.
